Hi Reader, Is it as hard for you as it is for me to take time off? I'm back from 5 weeks away from my newsletter and blog writing duties. I was travelling for work, taking personal time off to go to the US Open as well as visiting family. Even though I am surrounded daily by a slower paced Parisian rhythm, the NYC hustler in me can't stop muscling her way in. Not thinking about work and you guys was at times a struggle. As I love what I do for a living and it's woven into every fiber of my being, taking time off is sometimes too negotiable. And now, here we are Reader, back to the New, New Year that I declared last Fall. You are hopefully rested after your Summer break and ready to take on your To-Do list. But before you do, let me tell you this little secret. I'm not hyped to get back to writing a weekly blog and newsletter. Continue reading here. P.S. Feng Shui Friday is now EVERY TWO WEEKS! Read today's blog to get the full update. It's been a while, but your Feng Shui friend took some time off to regenerate, and I'm back with some fun stories. I snuck off to NYC to visit a few clients and sneak a peek at the US Open. My family also got a chance to see me in between eating tacos and leisurely and gloriously galavanting through my local Trader Joe's (a very welcome break from Paris' air-conditioner-less canicules, or heatwaves). I even found a yummy snack called Jumeokbap. Have you heard of it? Have you ever noticed how friendly NYC is? Well, I seemed to have inadvertently added to it this time around. I mistook a fellow New Yorker for someone I went to school with and went as far as hugging this friendly stranger! It didn't end badly, though. He invited me to a fun chess event in Chinatown that I ended up joining. Unfortunately, during my last few days, I hurt my knee, which slowed me down a bit. It didn't stop me from celebrating my three-year anniversary of setting up shop in Paris, though. My, how time flies when you're having fun! See you in a couple of weeks. Until then, good energy to you! Follow us on social media! |

Hi Reader, Last week, I received many concerned messages from friends and family in the US. They saw the news headlines about the protests in the streets of France and wondered, is Susan ok? Rest assured, I am ok. There’s definitely something about living in France that keeps you on your toes! One minute you can be admiring the beautiful architecture, enjoying your café and the next minute, there’s a passionate political debate or a “manifestation,” aka protest just winding around the corner....
Hi Reader, Three years in, I'm discovering the difference between loving a culture and living in it. Paris, ah Paris. I moved back here 3 years ago, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, confident to take on my new world and life. I mean, I spoke pretty fluent French, knew which utensil was used for what course or animal/vegetable/other, and I already had French friends. It was an easy slam dunk, right? Omg, so wrong. As a Feng Shui consultant, I've spent years helping people understand how their...
Hi Reader, Do you usually wait for others to give you permission to do something? I don't mean getting permission to go somewhere or to speak to someone. It's a bit sneakier than that. I'm talking about giving yourself permission to take a break. If you're an ambitious woman, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. You have a million things on your daily to-do list that you want to do, finish, fix or start. So sometimes it feels easier when your partner, boss, friend or parent says,...
